Common Households in Bolivia
In typical Bolivian houses in the tropics, people typically live in crowded houses made out of wood with palm branches for roofs. These homes have dirt floors, no windows, and a single room that serves as the bedroom for the whole family. There are no kitchens, laundry rooms, or bathrooms inside the house; all of the cooking is done outside as well as the washing and going to the bathroom. The majority of the homes do not have any access to running water or sanitation.

A "nice" house in Bolivia is typically made with adobe or stone walls, have rooms surrounding a centered open patio or courtyard.
Homelessness
According to UNICEF in 2013, about 3,700 children and adolescents were living in the streets of Bolivia and had no source of shelter. Many of these children are considered homeless due to issues of domestic violence. After Bolivia was hit and destroyed by a overpowering flood, at least 1,000 civilians were less homeless and alone. Many people in Bolivia remain uneducated, therefore it is very hard for them to find jobs that will financially support them and their family, leaving them without a home to live in.
Supporting Programs
Programs, such as INESAD and Innovations for Poverty Action (IPA), are working together to help Bolivia escape extreme poverty. PCI also works with Bolivia to improve the the health, agriculture, environment, education, and water sanitation. This program has been working in Bolivia since 1980 and have made tremendous impacts thus far.

Current Event
Bolivia was hit by a rude awakening in February when torrential downpours destroyed livestock, crops, and thousands of homes. This flood was not like an ordinary flood, this was Bolivia’s most destructive flood in 60 years. This flood killed a couple of civilians, but left thousands of people homeless, fighting for food and shelter, and ultimately their own lives.
